Clever Site Design - Layout

Frooly makes site layout simple. Our web team have done the hard work creating reams and reams of unintelligible code, so that all you have to do is select the kind of information you want to add (BISH), move it where you want it (BASH), and save (BOSH).

The great thing is that you can add pretty much anything you want. However, we don’t want to startle customers by slapping them in the face with the most jam-packed website they’ve ever seen. There’s a delicate balance between elegance and mayhem...and this is where we’ve got to get smart with our site layout.

Site layout is about a comfortable mix of creativity and common sense. Think carefully about the content you really want to show off. A collection of your best products or an image or two, and a news feed with updates for your customers are really all you need on your home page. You don’t have to give too much away on the first page. Remember that you can create more pages with maps, contacts forms and products.

Creating a sensible collection of pages on your site will encourage customers to navigate through it (providing that your content is interesting) and digest things easily. Packing it all into two pages will trigger an adverse reaction from the user. It’s like eating a curry and a chocolate bar at the same time. They both taste great, but there is such thing as too much of a good thing...

If you’ve got something that you really want people to see, don’t stick at the foot of your page. The majority of internet users won’t scroll down there, unless the rest of your content is absolutely brilliant too!

And if there’s one piece of advice I can give you, it’d be think twice about a company history. To be brutally honest, nobody cares enough to read who, what, where and when about your company. Keep it simple, introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

  1. Proper web design is another important lifeline of a website (the other being quality content). If your site's layout doesn't effectively attract users, this may result into little or no interaction at all.
